June 2016 Kennedy Mixer – AMERICA!
Gearing up for America’s big birthday, Kennedy celebrated Independence Day a week early at one of our favorite Rainey Street spots – Icenhauer’s. Thanks to Melted, Moojo Ice Cream Sandwiches, Evil Wiener, Pierson Saxon and Kennedy Collection, our guests left with their bellies full, their cocktail thirsts quenched, their ears satisfied and their competitive spirit awarded.
Red, White and Blue all the way!
The Kennedy Collection team went above and beyond for Lady Liberty, decking out Icenhauer’s in fabulous red, white and blue event rental furniture, accessories and décor pieces. Fun American-themed throw pillows dressed up the vibey lounge areas of Icenhauer’s and the classic America centerpieces kept the outdoor area both patriotic and lovely. Don’t even get us started on the super fun and kitschy yard games our Warehouse Manager Mike White custom built for this mixer! Kennedy Collection now has ALL of your outdoor game needs! We’ve got corn hole, giant Jenga, giant connect four and a miniature golf putting green, but it doesn’t start there. Mike custom crafted a red, white and blue bottle toss game and sawed, sanded and painted colorful die for the unique dice rolling game, Farkle. Step on up to the plate and play with us!
All the flavors of America!
Upon arrival, our guests were greeted by perhaps the best American treat of all – free grilled cheese! Thanks, Uncle Sam! But really, thanks Melted. Melted is a brand new pressed sandwich food truck in town that donates 100% of their profits to the International Justice Mission (IJM). Amazing sandwiches for an even more amazing cause? Now that’s something friends of Kennedy can get behind. Guests tasted delights like the Hill Country Toast, a pepperjack grilled cheese stuffed with beer-braised pork and red onion jam, the King Cheese, a mouth-watering combination of peanut butter mascarpone, honey and banana, and the Great White, a classic triple cheese trifecta with basil and garlic. Whew! That’s a mouthful.
Cheers to The Stars and Stripes
After tasting through the ultimate grilled cheese menu, guests were drawn inside by the alluring Americana sounds of Pierson Saxon, a trio with a male and female vocalist and a stellar pedal steel guitar player. Pierce Saxon, the male lead, could be compared to a Jackson Browne type and Erin Stein, the female vocalist, sounded quite a bit like Susan Tedeschi. The perfect soundtrack for our summertime backyard mixer.
Equally alluring was Icenhauer’s cocktail menu. Serving minis of “The Allison,” their infamous Sunday sangria, “The Kelsey,” a delicious mint-infused Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka with peach accents, and “The Ashley,” a flavorful hatch chile-infused tequila cocktail with a hint of mango, guests were able to try a wide range of the excellent mixology offerings Icenhauer’s has become so popular for. A selection of 10 local beer tastings were also available, including Austin staples like Peacemaker and 512 Pecan Porter.
Made in the USA
Right by the bar, guests were invited to really seize the 4th of July holiday spirit at Evil Wiener’s build-your-own hotdog bar. Everyone had their pick of the Good Old American, the Tex Mex, and La Revolucion with a variety of toppings and condiments to choose from. These wieners were all the rave and certainly had us brainstorming ideas for our own upcoming holiday cookouts this weekend.
But the real icing on the Independence Day cake was Moojo and their out-of-this-world ice cream sandwiches. With ice cream flavor choices like Dutch Chocolate and Salted Caramel Pretzel generously scooped and sandwiched between cookie options like rocky road and snickerdoodle, the dessert really was the cherry on top for already happy stomachs everywhere. We’re not telling you we went back for seconds, but weren’t not saying we stopped at firsts either…
While guests munched on wieners, sammies and ice cream sandwiches galore and grooved to the Americana stylings of Same Veins, Kennedy’s backyard America party also provided a large range of yard game options for anyone with a competitive edge. Giant Connect Four, giant Jenga, Cornhole – the works. What better way to burn off those King Cheeses than a good old corn hole sack toss?
We are so appreciative of all of our wonderful vendors but even more appreciative of our industry friends who came to celebrate with us! We hope to see you at the next mixer coming up just two weeks away on Monday, July 25th at 5:00 pm right here in the office.
